Waiheke Winter Holiday

Is Waiheke a good place for a winter holiday?

Short answer - yes!

Waiheke Island is a beautiful place for a winter holiday, especially when you're staying in the Boho Hill Waiheke Island boutique accommodation. A lot of out guests in the winter enjoy bunkering down and enjoying the downtime - and we don't blame them! Winter can be the perfect time to relax and unwind with no planned schedule - except for relaxing by the fire in the Cottage Waiheke Island boutique accommodation.

However, there's a lot you can do on Waiheke during winter, so read on!

Watch a movie at the Waiheke Island Community Cinema

The Waiheke Island Community Cinema comes highly recommended by us at Boho Hill, as a great activity for a Waiheke Island winter Holiday.

Waiheke Island Community Cinema is a wonderful community asset and will showcase locally made community stories which are screened before feature films. The Cinema Trust assists local filmmakers with funding to create these short documentaries.

The cinema shows a great range of movies to suit a wide audience. General admission ticket prices are $16, concessions are $12, 5-15y.o. are $9 and under 5s are free. As a bonus, on Tuesdays all adults are $10 only! This makes the cinema a great, low cost activity for your Waiheke Island winter holiday.

Enjoy the Waiheke landscape by foot.

Waiheke Island has a great network of walking tracks available for public use. In winter, these tracks are a lot quieter than in the busy summer months, giving you an opportunity to enjoy the scenery in peace.

Waiheke Island's landscape changes a lot between the months so it is always interesting to enjoy these walks at different times of the year. After a wet and wild walk, you can come back to Boho Hill Waiheke Island and enjoy a soak in our outdoor hot tub before heading to your boutique Waiheke Island accommodation for the night.

Take advantage of the quiet shops, cafes and wineries!

Waiheke Island is a place with so many shops, cafes, restaurants and vineyards to enjoy. During winter on Waiheke Island, you can visit these places while avoiding the summer crowds.

You can sit in a bar and enjoy some warming happy hour drinks while listening to smooth live music, or hop from shop-to-shop to snap up some bargains. Whatever you're into, there's something for you on Waiheke Island in winter!
